120 trivia questions with answers

Trivia // With answers

Twelve rounds of ten: general knowledge, science, geography, food, animals, sports, words, history, space, numbers, music and an Aussie round. Answers under each round.

Here are 120 trivia questions with answers, in twelve rounds of ten: general knowledge, science, geography, food, animals, sport, words, history, space, numbers, music and an Aussie round to finish. The answers are folded away under each round, so the quizmaster can read straight from the page without giving anything away.

We wrote and checked every one ourselves. They are pitched at a mixed crowd: a game night with friends, a team quiz at work, a family dinner with teenagers who think they know everything. Each round starts gentle and has a couple that will start an argument. Nothing needs a phone to look up, and nothing is rude.

How to run a trivia night

  • Teams of three to six. Mix them up, so the couple who do the crossword every morning are not on the same team.
  • One answer sheet per team. A team name at the top (our team name generator will sort that out) and the numbers 1 to 10 for each round.
  • Read each question twice, then give about 30 seconds before the next one.
  • Mark as you go. Teams swap sheets at the end of each round while you read the answers, and the running score goes up where everyone can see it.
  • Four to six rounds is plenty for an evening. Pick the rounds that suit your crowd and save the rest for next time.

Tiebreaker

Closest answer wins. How many times does the average human heart beat in one day? Give a single number.

Tiebreaker answer

About 100,000. A resting heart beats around 60 to 100 times a minute, and there are 1,440 minutes in a day, so anything from 90,000 to 115,000 is a fair answer. Closest to 100,000 takes it.

Fun trivia categories for your next quiz

Writing your own round? These categories always get a room talking, and none of them need a specialist: things in a kitchen drawer, famous firsts, animals and their babies, what year was it, flags and capitals, the human body, inventions, weather and the sky, food around the world, words that changed meaning, numbers in everyday life, record breakers, sounds and instruments, sports rules, space, name the country from its neighbours, odd one out and true or false.

Play trivia on your phones

Marking sheets is the part nobody misses. Keyhole's party games put the questions on the TV and the answers on everyone's phone, and the scores add themselves up. Near Enough is the number round, where closest wins. Pull the Other One turns true but unlikely facts into a bluffing game. Everyone plays in the browser, with no app, and guests never need an account.
