Question of the day: 100 ideas

Questions // Safe for work

Fun questions for work, funny ones, good ones that make people think, a food set and a set for adults. Twenty working weeks without a repeat.

A question of the day is the cheapest team ritual there is. One question goes up in the morning, in the team chat, on the whiteboard or at the start of stand-up, and by lunch people who never talk to each other are arguing about whether a hot dog is a sandwich.

Here are 100 questions of the day we wrote ourselves: fun ones for work, funny ones, good ones that make people think, a food set and a set for adults at home or with friends. That is a full school term, or twenty working weeks, without a repeat. All of them are safe for work.

How to run a question of the day

  • Same time, same place. Post it at 9am in one channel, or write it on the same whiteboard. The habit is what makes it work.
  • Answer it yourself. Whoever posts the question answers first, in a line or two.
  • Short answers win. One line is plenty. It is a coffee chat, not homework.
  • Hand it round. Give each person a week of posting. They will start writing their own.
